Player Season Stats

Attacking midfielder Alfie Devine joined our Academy in the summer of 2020 from Wigan Athletic.

Our youngest player and goalscorer after coming off the bench to score against Marine in the FA Cup in January, 2021, Alfie had two loan spells in 2023/24. The first was at Port Vale in League One, his first taste of league football, where he made 26 appearances and scored three goals.

Having caught the eye in the first half of the campaign, he moved up to the Championship and a loan at Plymouth Argyle in the second half, where he made 15 appearances. Back at Spurs in May, he helped our Under-21s reach the Premier League 2 play-off final with an appearance in the semi-final win against Chelsea, before travelling with the first team squad to Australia for our post-season friendly against Newcastle at the MCG, where he played the second half.

Born in Warrington, Alfie was an FA Youth Cup quarter-finalist with Wigan during the 2019/20 season, briefly playing against us in the fourth round. He previously played for Liverpool until he was 11. His father Sean is a former rugby player for St Helens.

Alfie featured as a substitute in first team pre-season matches against Ipswich Town and Reading at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in August, 2020.

He began the competitive 2020/21 season with a string of impressive performances for our Under-18s and stepped up to feature in a handful of games for the Under-23s. In total, he scored twice in 12 appearances for the Under-18s in all competitions during 2020/21, while mirroring those same numbers for the Under-23s in the Premier League 2.

Alfie's big moment came in the FA Cup third round in January, 2021, when he became the Club's youngest-ever player and goalscorer at senior level when he netted in a 5-0 victory at non-league Marine. He was subsequently named on the bench in Premier League away games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa during the second half of that campaign.

The 2021/22 season saw him feature primarily for our Development Squad, although he also scored twice in four appearances for the Under-18s, three of those games coming in the FA Youth Cup. He netted nine goals in 18 appearances for the Development Squad in all competitions, including a memorable brace in a 2-1 home win against Liverpool in September, 2021. He was named on our first team bench four times over the course of that season.

Alfie signed a new contract with the Club until 2027 in September, 2022.

A regular in our Under-21 and Under-19 UEFA Youth League sides in the first half of the 2022/23 campaign, save for a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury, he came on for his second senior competitive appearance for us in an FA Cup third round tie against Portsmouth at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January, 2023.

On the international stage, Alfie has been a regular for England's Under-19s in recent seasons and helped them win the European Championship in the summer of 2022, contributing a goal and two assists at the tournament.
