Player Season Stats

Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario joined us from Empoli in the summer of 2023.

What a first season at Spurs for the Italy international!

'Vic' was ever-present in the Premier League, completing every minute of our 38 matches as we finished fifth in 2023/24. He also played in both FA Cup ties to make it 40 appearances in our 41 last term.

Brave with his feet and often the starting point for us as we build from the back, the sheer range of Guglielmo's saves - particularly reaction saves from close range - caught the eye in our storming start to the Premier League campaign, where we won eight and drew two of our first 10 matches.

Indeed, that was reflected in the Premier League Save of the Month awards, where Vic was nominated in the first five months of the season, without actually winning! He was also nominated in February, making it six nominations out of a possible 10. He was also named 'Goalkeeper of the Year' at the London Football Awards in March.

Vic's displays earned a first senior Italy cap in March, 2024, when he kept a clean sheet in the Azzurri's 2-0 friendly win over Ecuador in New Jersey, USA. He earned his second cap against Turkey in June, 2024 and was part of the Italy squad in the Euro 2024 finals in Germany.

Born in Udine, Italy, Guglielmo spent his early years with Bearzi, joining Udinese’s youth team in August, 2013, before a season-long loan with Fontanafredda during the 2014/15 campaign, where he made a total of 30 appearances.

A commanding goalkeeper with the ability to play out from the back, Guglielmo moved to Venezia in August, 2015, making 89 appearances in all competitions for the Italian side, keeping 28 clean sheets and, in 2016/17, helped the club earn promotion to Serie B, while also claiming the Coppa Italia Lega Pro.

After four years with Venezia, he joined Cagliari in July, 2019, before heading out on loan to Perugia for the duration of the campaign, where he made 39 appearances.

The athletic shot-stopper returned to the Rossoblù, making his Serie A debut in April, 2021, and, after featuring on seven occasions for Cagliari, he joined Empoli on a season-long loan in July, 2021 - a deal which turned permanent the following year.

An impressive two-year spell with Empoli saw Guglielmo make a total of 71 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit. His eye-catching performances earned him his first international call-up in September, 2022, ahead of Italy’s latest UEFA Nations League campaign, where the Azzurri eventually finished in third place.

Vic's displays at Spurs finally earned a first senior Italy cap in March, 2024, when he kept a clean sheet in the Azzurri's 2-0 friendly win over Ecuador in New Jersey, USA. He earned his second cap against Turkey in June, 2024 and was part of the Italy squad in the Euro 2024 finals in Germany.
