Fraser Forster

Player Season Stats

Experienced goalkeeper Fraser Forster joined the Club on 1 July, 2022, following the expiration of his contract at Southampton.

A calm, commanding figure at the back, Fraser's 2023/24 campaign was hit by injury - he was ruled out of travelling to our summer tour by a back issue, and then his season was ended early by a fractured foot.

With Guglielmo Vicario in outstanding form, Fraser made just the one appearance for us in the League Cup at Fulham in August, 2023. That took him to 21 appearances for us in all competitions.

Despite that, Fraser's influence in the changing room and day to day at Hotspur Way was recognised in December, 2023 when he signed a new contract that will run until the summer of 2025.

Fraser had made 134 Premier League appearances prior to joining us, keeping 42 clean sheets having joined Southampton from Celtic in August, 2014.

The England international began his career at Newcastle United before loan spells at Stockport County, Bristol Rovers and Norwich City, where he helped the team secure promotion to the Championship.

In 2010, he joined Celtic on a season-long loan and returned for a second loan spell the year after, a deal which turned permanent in 2012. Featuring numerous times in the UEFA Champions League, Fraser enjoyed a successful period in Scotland, winning three Scottish Premiership titles and two Scottish Cups.

Fraser joined Southampton in 2014 where, in his second season, he scooped the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for February, 2016, following an impressive run of games. In 2016/17, he played a key role in the Saints’ route to the League Cup final, where they would eventually finish as runners-up.

He returned to Celtic with a season-long loan in 2019/20 and as part of a treble-winning side, he lifted a fourth Scottish Premiership title, a third Scottish Cup and the Scottish League Cup.

Fraser made 20 appearances for us in all competitions in his first season at Spurs in 2022/23. He had to wait until November to make his debut in a League Cup tie at Forest, before making his first appearance in the Premier League against Brentford on Boxing Day. That ended a sequence of 101 consecutive starts for Hugo Lloris, and Fraser was called on another 18 times in the second half of the season, playing more than Club captain Hugo.

Fraser had an initial run of nine matches in all competitions - including a return to Champions League football against Milan - after Hugo suffered a knee injury in the 1-0 win against City in February. Hugo returned in April, but Fraser was back between the sticks after Hugo sustained a hip injury against Newcastle that ultimately ended his season. Fraser went on to start our last six matches, taking his total to 20 in 2022/23, 14 in the Premier League.

Fraser's performances earned a recall to Gareth Southgate's England squad for internationals in March, although he didn't add to his six caps.

On the international stage, Fraser has made six appearances for England and made his debut in November, 2013, with his most recent call-up coming in March, 2022. He was selected to represent England at the 2014 World Cup and two years later he was included in the 23-man squad that travelled to France to compete in the European Championship.
