Ndombele: “I always feel good when I’m playing with freedom”

As we prepare to face Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, Tanguy Ndombele has been speaking about how he’s enjoying his time on the pitch.
Over the last few weeks, the midfielder has delivered some of his best showings in a Spurs shirt while operating in the space just behind the striker – especially in his display away to Newcastle United, where he starred and scored in our 3-2 win.
In the number 10 role, the 2019 signing from Lyon admitted he’s loving the freedom that the position gives him to express himself.
But he was also keen to point out that, no matter where he is asked to operate, he will always aim to adapt and produce.
It’s true that, at the moment, I have more freedom to get forward, which is always good for me.
“Of course, I always feel good when I’m playing with freedom out on the pitch,” said the France international, who scored in our memorable 6-1 win at Old Trafford last season.
“At the end of the day though, I’m a player that can adapt to different positions. I’ve played as the number six, closer to the defence, or if I’m playing the number eight role or the number 10, I’m always able to adapt to those different positions.
“Of course I like to have that freedom and it’s true that, at the moment, I have more freedom to get forward, which is always good for me.”
Kick-off against United is at 5.30pm UK.
