Sonny: “We are not perfect, but we’re working for perfection”

Heung-Min Son is striving for perfection in his partnership with Harry Kane.

The pair have been responsible for 15 goals in our eight matches so far, both have scored hat-tricks and capped the lot with two goals each on our incredible 6-1 win against Manchester United last weekend.

Once again, the pair appeared on a telepathic wavelength at Old Trafford, as Harry barely had to look before delivering a quick free-kick into the path of Sonny, who ran on to score the crucial second goal as we forged ahead 2-1. Sonny then returned the compliment as Harry made it 4-1 before half-time.

They worked their magic spectacularly in the 5-2 win at Southampton on 20 September when Harry provided all four assists for Sonny’s four goals - a first in the Premier League – and they have now combined for 26 Premier League goals, the fifth-most of any duo in the competition's history, and the most of any current pair.

“We understand each other really well,” said Sonny. “We are speaking a lot about this situation, every situation, when we have a ball in the middle, on the right, on the left, what he likes to do when he has the ball, I spoke to him about what I like when I have the ball, running like this, we are not perfect, but we are working for perfection.”

Sonny took us into his thought process for his first (our second) goal at Old Trafford. Harry was fouled, got up and within seconds, delivered a pass that Sonny ran on to, drove into the box and finished beautifully over David de Gea.

“First of all, I headed the ball to H, he won it, got the foul and I looked at him as he tried to get the ball quickly,” explained the South Korea star, “As soon as he had the ball in his hand, I knew he was going to pass. I saw the space and the ball was perfect, and the finish was a little lucky, but the pass was unbelievable.”
