Our stadium will sadly be empty, but both Hugo Lloris and Moussa Sissoko have told us how they know they will feel the weight of our worldwide support when we return to action against Manchester United next Friday, 19 June (8.15pm).
After over three months without a game with the country on lockdown to combat the coronavirus - our last outing was in the Champions League at RB Leipzig on 10 March - the Premier League is back with a bang and a vital clash at home against a United side currently four points ahead of us in fifth place.
Skipper Hugo said: “We know we’re going to feel all the support from our fans. Obviously they will not be at the stadium but we know that they will be in front of the screen, they will use social media to give their support and they have to hear that we are going to try our best to finish at the highest position in the league.
“There are nine games to go and we are looking forward to being back in the competition and to reduce the gap and to finish in the highest place we can.”
We know we have a lot of fans in the world who will be watching us and they will be with us
Hugo’s French international team-mate Moussa hasn’t played since January after picking up a knee injury that required surgery. However, he’s back, fully fit and raring to go.
He added: “Maybe the first game will be a little bit strange because normally we are playing with full stadiums and now the stadiums are going to be empty, but at the same time we know we have a lot of fans in the world who will be watching us and they will be with us.
“We want to reach something, to finish in the Champions League (places), so fans or no fans in the stadium, we need to play our game, try to win and to be consistent during the nine games left.”
