App exclusive: The game in numbers - Spurs 2-0 Arsenal
Mon 07 December 2020, 16:50|Tottenham Hotspur
We moved back to the top of the Premier League table on Sunday evening after a 2-0 win over our old rivals Arsenal.
Heung-Min Son got us underway, curling home spectacularly from outside the box on 13 minutes after his run was picked out by Harry Kane. The duo then combined once again for our second – Sonny turning provider as he teed the ball up for Harry to rifle home from close range.
Here’s a look at the key statistics and numbers behind the game...
More milestones for Kane
11 – Harry Kane is now the all-time top goalscorer in north London derbies after scoring his 11th goal against the Gunners in yesterday's 2-0 win.
250 – Harry’s strike was the 250th of his career for club and country and it came in just his 420th game.
100 – It was also the 100th goal our number 10 has scored for us at home in just 148 appearances – 49 of those goals came at White Hart Lane, he then scored 30 at Wembley Stadium while 21 have come so far at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
18 – Harry now has a combined total of 18 goals and assists after just 11 Premier League games. He is now just two shy of his combined total for last season of 20.
11 – 10 of that combined total of 18 for Harry are assists – no player has ever reached double figures for assists in fewer games (11) than our number 10 from the start of a Premier League season.
11 – Only against Leicester City (14) has Harry scored more goals in the Premier League than against Arsenal (11).
Jose’s Gunners record
2 – Jose Mourinho is now just the second Spurs manager in history to win each of his first two north London derbies after Jimmy Anderson in 1955/56.
64 – Jose has won 64 per cent of his London derbies as a manager in the Premier League (40 out of 63 games) – the best win percentage of any of the 17 managers in the competition's history to have been in charge for at least 20 capital clashes in the top flight.
11 – Our Head Coach also continued his unbeaten home run as a manager against Arsenal. He has never lost in 11 such meetings with the Gunners.
1 – Jose has now lost just one of his 21 competitive meetings with Arsenal as a manager (W12 D8).
69 – He has now taken 69 points in the Premier League since arriving as our manager in November, 2019 – only Liverpool (89) and Manchester City (74) have earned more points in that time.
Son and Kane’s prolific partnership
11 – Only the partnerships of Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton (13 in 1995/96) and Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson (12 in 2018/19) have combined for more Premier League goals in a single season than Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son (11 so far in 2020/21).
31 – Harry and Sonny have now combined for 31 Premier League goals. Only the combination of Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba has produced more (36).
18 & 13 – The pair have produced 18 goals and 13 assists between themselves in the Premier League so far this season.
8 – Only Stan Collymore (to Robbie Fowler) and Mike Newell (to Alan Shearer) – both nine in 1995/96 – have provided more assists to a specific team-mate in a single season than Harry Kane to Heung-Min Son in 2020/21 so far (eight).
50 - Sonny's assist for Harry was his 50th for us in all competitions while his 13th-minute strike was his 98th goal for us in all competitions.
Derby delights
7 – We are now unbeaten in our last seven home games against Arsenal in the league – our longest unbeaten home run against them since a run of nine between January, 1960, and January, 1968 - while we are also on a run of five games without defeat against the Gunners in all competitions.
2 – This is the first time since November, 2010, that we have earned back-to-back league victories over Arsenal.
Encouraging beginnings
1985 – This is the first time we have been at the top of the league table at this stage or later in a campaign since the 1984/85 season when we were top after 23 games.
10 – We are now unbeaten in our last 10 Premier League games – our best run since the 2017/18 season in which we went 14 matches without defeat in the competition.
24 – This is our second-best start to a Premier League season since the competition began in 1992, with 24 points collected from our first 11 games. In 2011/12, we earned 25 points from our first 11 games - we then went on to take maximum points in our next two games to put us on 31 points from our first 13 games, yet, we only sat third at that stage.
Defensive strengths
5 – We have kept five clean sheets in our last six Premier League games, including four on the bounce. That's just one short of our best-ever run in the competition - in the 2009/10 season, we kept five consecutive clean sheets.
5 – No goalkeeper in the Premier League has earned more clean sheets than Hugo Lloris this season. He is now just three shutouts away from reaching a century of clean sheets in England’s top flight.
360 - We have now not conceded a goal in the Premier League in over 360 minutes.
5 - Toby Alderweireld won five aerial duels in the game – more than any other player on the pitch.
100 – Serge Aurier attempted three challenges against Arsenal and won 100 per cent of them.
20 – Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld made 20 clearances during the game.
55 – We made 55 clearances in total during the game – 25 more than in any other game this season.
