Harry Kane will lock horns again with Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk in a heavyweight clash in the Premier League at Anfield this afternoon (4.30pm kick-off).

In the white corner, striker Harry, currently captain of Spurs and England, Golden Boot winner in the Premier League and at the World Cup, 173 goals in 265 appearances for us plus another 28 goals in 43 caps for England. In the red corner, central defender Van Dijk, UEFA Player of the Year and runner-up in the FIFA ‘Best’ awards, Dutch captain, 32 caps.

Typically, Harry was thinking more about the team than any personal battle when we spoke to him at Hotspur Way after training on Friday.

I believe in myself against anyone so it’s just about concentrating on my game and how I can help my team

“He’s obviously a great defender,” said Harry of Van Dijk. “He’s had a great couple of years at Liverpool and they’ve had success last season. We’ve had some good battles over the years and I’m sure it will be the same on today.

“Every defender has different attributes and from my point of view, it’s about going out there, doing my best and working hard for the team. I believe in myself against anyone so it’s just about concentrating on my game and how I can help my team.

“From my point of view, no matter how good one player is, it’s a team game and it’s down to us to get together and win as a team.

“It’s a massive game, Liverpool have started well, we haven’t started the best so it’s an opportunity for us to turn our season around, continue our momentum after Tuesday night (our 5-0 win against Crvena zvezda in the Champions League) and really start to push on. It’s going to be tough but we’re all looking forward to it.”
