Paulo Gazzaniga summed up what Sunday’s win against Wolves meant to the team when we caught up with him at Molineux.
A thrilling, high-intensity encounter saw us take an early lead through Lucas Moura but the home side – unbeaten in 11 before Sunday – gradually pushed us back, levelled in the second half and went for the jugular before Jan Vertonghen’s late, late header took the three points back to N17.
It was our fourth win in five in the Premier League under Jose Mourinho and moved us up to fifth – just three points behind Chelsea, who we meet in a cracker at home on Sunday.
“It’s a big win, massive three points, maybe one of the most important games for us this season,” said Paulo against the backdrop of a jubilant dressing room. “We’re very happy to win at the end.

“We knew before we came here that it was going to be tough, we knew we would have to fight, and we managed to that. We stayed strong and that gave us the chance to win in the end.”
Starting his 13th match in a row, Paulo certainly played his part with crucial saves from Raul Jimenez and a lightning reactions to turn away Romain Saiss’s header with only five minutes remaining.
“That’s what I’m there for, always keeping the right mentality and trying to give the team that security,” he added. “As I said, this is one of the most important games for us so far this season and we’re all delighted to win.”
