Morris: “Stick together and results will come”

Ella Morris believes ‘results will come’ as we face two games on the road before the April international break.

The defender started in back-to-back games in the Barclays Women’s Super League for the first time this season, having completed a full 90 minutes in our 1-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last time out.

Fran Kirby’s strike in the closing stages of the first half proved to be the difference in the encounter at Brisbane Road, but we pushed for a leveller in the second period, with Ella going the closest in stoppage time, blazing an effort over the from the edge of the box.

Next up is a trip across London to face West Ham United on Sunday (12pm UK) before we travel to Leicester City in our final game before the international break, and the England youth international has highlighted a key focus to improve on though is confident we can turn around our form.

Talking to us after the Seagulls encounter, Ella said: “It was a bit of a scrappy one, we knew we wanted to get the result but a bit of controversial goal from them, however that’s football, and we could have taken some of our chances, we just didn’t do that.

“I could have been better with my deliveries, but it was just one of those games for us and it’s something to take back to the training pitch, we will focus on that, the clinical finishing, because we showed we can create those chances against Manchester City but it’s becoming a pattern now that we can’t take them.

“Ultimately I can’t fault the girls’ work rate, we tried and we worked hard, so we will try to keep building on that, stick together and the results will come.”
