Kevin Danso x Black Sherif
Five things you may have missed

In the latest episode of Beyond the Game from SPURSPLAY, Kevin Danso met up with Ghanaian music icon Black Sherif for a day packed with vibes, flavour and football. When football and music collide, magic happens - and that's exactly what went down when two stars from Ghanaian heritage bond over food, music and, of course, Spurs.
Kicking things off over a mouth-watering Ghanaian feast at Accra Palace Restaurant in London's E5, the pair connect instantly over their shared roots and traditional dishes. Kevin, born in Austria to Ghanaian parents, and Ghana-born Sherif blend their worlds in perfect harmony - sharing fond memories of their upbringing and how they were strongly influenced by the West African nation's culture. It's then time to taste their favourite food, but more on that later...
Next stop? The Church Studios - a recording studio in Crouch End, north London. A home from home for Black Sherif - real name Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong - the singer and rapper leads footballer Kevin into a musical world unknown for a behind-the-scenes look into the artist's creative domain. Kevin, a self-confessed music lover, gets a taste of the studio feel and enjoys an exclusive preview of an unreleased track from Black Sherif's upcoming album, Iron Boy, set for release in April!
Last up, our number four returns the favour as he shows his companion around his new home - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Taking in the sights and talking all things football, Kevin reveals how his loan move transpired in February and describes the real sense of family and community he has found at the Club.
Here are five things you may have missed from a day full of laughter, culture and a mutual respect between two people at the top of their craft...
1 - Danso's favourite food?

Served up a variety of delectable authentic Ghanaian dishes at Accra Palace Restaurant, Kevin didn't hesitate when picking out one particular food laid out in front of them at the table...
"This is my absolute favourite, if anyone asks what my favourite food is - this is Yam," says the defender, pointing to his dream dish.
"So this is fried Yam. People in Ghana eat it as a snack, but I have it as a full meal just because I love it!"
2 - A surprising confession

Sat in the recording studio, during their conversation Kevin dropped a surprising revelation: "To be honest, from as far (back) as I can remember, from the age of seven I hated football."
While most professional footballers grow up with a ball at their feet and obsessed with the sport, the Austrian international admitted he had no interest in the game whatsoever and instead wanted to pursue a different creative direction before he eventually came around to the idea...
"I wanted to be in action movies, be an actor, do something in terms of karate and stuff," he continued.
"Even when my brother and my dad used to watch football, I used to be so bored. I wanted to watch movies like Jackie Chan and Jean-Claude Van Damme.
"Then one day - I can't remember when - it just clicked and I was like actually I like this sport."
3 - Leading the line

For a player who has forged an impressive senior career for both club and country at the heart of defence, it may come as a surprise to hear that Kevin's journey actually began at the other end of the pitch.
After securing his loan move from French side Lens at the start of last month, the 26-year-old - who produced a string of solid defensive performances across his seven appearances for Spurs until his recent injury setback - explains that goalscoring - and not defending - laid the foundation for a journey that has seen him compete across three of Europe's top leagues - Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Premier League - as well as UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League experience all as a centre-back.
"I started off as a striker," he reveals.
"Since the minute I started playing football I was like 'okay, this is actually fun, this is what I want to do', and, like I said, the rest is history...
"... after my first year of Sunday league football, I scored 74 goals in Under-8s and we were champions and everything!"
4 - Exclusive alert

🚨 Exclusive 🚨
"It's a crazy title!" explains Black Sherif, as he prepares to play a sample of a track from his unreleased album, Iron Boy.
"You know soma obi?" Sherif asks Kevin. "Like 'send someone'," he explains, before dropping an exclusive listen of his unreleased single 'Soma Obi' in the studio.
It's a wholesome exchange as the singer, with his infectious energy, and the footballer share a precious moment through the power of music in the studio - enjoy a teaser below.
5 - A new celebration is born

"My new home," Kevin beams, as the pair enter Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the final stop on Beyond the Game.
Still in the early stages of his Spurs career, our defender reflects on his start to life in north London whilst they move from the home dressing room, to the tunnel and finally pitchside at our world-class home in N17.
The energy remains high when Black Sherif saves something special for our number four - his very own goal celebration. Even though the defender's goalscoring days as a striker might be consigned to the past, the Ghanaian artist cooks up a unique celebration for Kevin to use in the future: two big fours, held in front of the face (as pictured above).
"K Danso - you can't see me," demos Sherif, before being gifted his very own 'Danso 4' personalised Spurs shirt. Keep your eyes peeled for this one!
