Heung-Min Son has retaken the prize for Korea's best men's footballer.

After missing out on the honour last year to FC Bayern's Kim Min-Jae, the forward has edged the centre-back this year to reclaim the award and lift it for a record eighth time.

Presented by the Korea Football Association, the title is awarded to the best Korean men's player and is decided by select Korean FA members and Korean journalists.

The award comes after another strong year for Sonny.

All of Heung-Min Son's goals in 2024

A superstar both in his native Korea and across the globe, our number seven has continued to shine on the pitch, continuing to break records and register colossal numbers in Lilywhite.

On 448 appearances in our colours - the seventh highest in our history, Sonny is now fifth in terms of goals for the Club with 173 to his name - just two behind the legendary Martin Chivers.

Appointed our captain in the summer of 2023, he has continued to churn out the numbers in front of goal with the armband, contributing to 50 goals in that time (28 scored, 22 assisted).

That has seen him move up the leaderboard in terms of Premier League goals. Already the highest scoring Asian player to ever grace the competition, he is now on 127 strikes in England's top flight - the 16th most in the competitions's history.

Back in December, he became our greatest ever provider of assists in the competition as well, edging past Darren Anderton's long-standing record.

He is now on 198 goal involvements in the top flight and is quickly closing in on joining a very exclusive club to have contributed to 200 Premier League goals.

Reaching double figures for goals already this season with 11, it is the ninth season in a row that our number seven has managed that and, for the fifth time in 10 seasons at the Club, he has also hit double figures in both goals and assists already this term.

Captain of his country, on the international stage, Sonny led his nation to the last four of the Asian Cup at the start of 2024, scoring three times before a semi-final defeat to Jordan.

He has now scored 51 goals for his country - seven away from the national record - and has 133 caps - three away from the national record.
