We kick off our UEFA Europa League knockout phase campaign with a trip to the Netherlands to face AZ Alkmaar in the round of 16 this evening (Thursday 6 March).
Tonight’s first leg represents our second meeting with the Dutch Eredivisie side this season, following our 1-0 home victory in the league stage of the competition back in October.

Tonight’s match gets underway at 5.45pm UK time, 6.45pm local time in the Netherlands.

What is the team news?
Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Dominic Solanke have all travelled to the Netherlands and will all be available for the game after significant injury lay-offs.
Dejan Kulusevski has picked up a foot injury, though, and will miss out, joining Ben Davies and Richarlison on the sidelines.
Djed Spence, Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel are all in line to make their European debuts for the Club as they are all included in our squad for the knockout stages, but Fraser Forster, Antonin Kinsky, Sergio Reguilon, Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner are all ineligible at this point of the competition.
Our former striker Troy Parrott, with 17 goals to his name for AZ this season, is expected to lead the line for the hosts, but Sven Mijnans and Jayden Addai miss out through injury. Ruben van Bommel and Mexx Meerdink will need to be assessed before the game to determine if they can play a part.
Who is the referee?
Tonight’s match officials are from Slovenia. Rade Obrenovič is the referee, with Jure Praprotnik and Andraž Kovačič on the lines.
David Šmajc will be the fourth official, with Alen Borošak and assistant Carlos del Cerro Grande on VAR duties.
What colours will the teams be playing in?
AZ Alkmaar will wear red shirts with white shorts and white socks.
Their goalkeeper’s strip will be turquoise.
We’ll be in Lilywhite shirts, navy blue shorts and navy blue socks, with our keeper in yellow.
