Bassong
Legacy Number #748
71 appearances, 3 goals - 2009-2012
Snapped up from Newcastle in the summer of 2009, Seb played a key role as we qualified for the Champions League in 2009/10 – he started 25 matches as we finished fourth in the Premier League. He then scored one of the most important goals of the modern era – trailing 3-0 in our UCL play-off at Young Boys, Seb headed home just before half-time to bring us back into the game. Roman Pavlyuchenko made it 3-2 before we finished the job at White Hart Lane. Seb joined Norwich in 2012 and captained the Canaries before spells at Watford, Peterborough United and Volos in Greece before retiring in 2019.
Dimitar
Berbatov
Legacy Number #715
102 appearances, 46 goals - 2006-2008
One of the finest strikers of the modern era, 'Berba' scored a hatful of goals at CSKA Sofia and Bayer Leverkusen before joining us in 2006. He formed a lethal partnership with Robbie Keane in 2006/07 and 2007/08 - the pair scored 90 goals between them - and helped us land the League Cup in 2008, scoring a nerve-less penalty in the final against Chelsea. Capped 78 times by Bulgaria, scoring 48 goals for his country, Berba moved to Manchester United in 2008 before spells at Fulham, Monaco, PAOK and Kerala Blasters in India. He official retired in 2019.

Pascal
Chimbonda
Legacy Number #717
103 appearances, 4 goals - 2006-2009
Pascal first caught the eye at Wigan before we snapped him up in August 2006. An athletic full-back, he was a regular in his first two seasons, playing 49 games in 2006/07, including all 10 of our run to the UEFA Cup quarter-finals, and then another 49 in 2007/08, starting all six ties in our League Cup success, including the final against Chelsea. Pascal played another five times on rejoining us in January 2009. He also had spells at Sunderland, Blackburn, QPR, Doncaster, Carlisle and non-league side Skelmersdale United, where he was player-manager last season!

Dawson
Legacy Number #701
324 appearances, 10 goals - 2005-2014
A youth product at Forest, ‘Daws’ joined us alongside Andy Reid in January, 2005 and was a defensive rock for the best part of 10 years, forming a superb partnership with Ledley King, often captaining the team in Ledley’s absence. Part of the squad that won the League Cup in 2008 – although he missed the final through injury – Daws then helped us qualify for the Champions League and proudly led the team out at the San Siro for our Round of 16, first leg against AC Milan. He departed for Hull City in 2014 before ending his career back at Forest. Popular as ever, Daws is now a Club Ambassador and pundit for Sky Sports, appearing on their flagship Soccer Saturday programme. He also hosts Off The Shelf, our official podcast.

236 appearances, 89 goals - 1978-1986
Born locally in Hackney, Spurs fan Mark came through the youth system to score 89 goals in 236 appearances for us in all competitions, lifting the UEFA Cup in 1984. He remains in the top five of our all-time European goalscoring list with 13, including a famous goal to beat Bayern Munich on our way to that glory, glory night in 1984. He also converted his penalty in the shoot-out in the final against Anderlecht at the Lane. Mark later played for Watford, Glasgow Rangers, QPR and Millwall.
Steffen
Freund
Legacy Number #645
131 appearances - 1999-2003
A Bundesliga and Champions League winner at Borussia Dortmund, as well as being part of the Germany squad that won Euro 96 in England, Steffen arrived at Spurs in December, 1998, and few players will have had such a ‘welcome’ to English football – he faced the attritional test of Wimbledon five times in his first nine games, including a League Cup semi-final victory over two legs. A midfielder ‘enforcer’, Steffen recovered from a serious knee injury to make 131 appearances in all competitions before departing back to Germany and FC Kaiserslautern in 2003. He would later return as part of Andre Villas-Boas’ coaching team in 2012. In recent years, he’s turned to media duties where he’s a popular pundit and co-commentator for the likes of RTL/Nitro, the DFL, Servus TV in Austria and Sportcast DFB-Pokal, on top of being a Technical Observer for UEFA.

Heurelho
Gomes
Legacy Number #735
135 appearances, 2008-2014
We first came across Heurelho in March, 2008, where he stood between us and a place in the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup with his performance for PSV. Joining us later that year, the goalkeeper impressed particularly in 2009/10 and 2010/11, helping us first qualify for the Champions League and then play every game on our run to the quarter-finals. He saved two of his best performances for the Round of 16 victory against AC Milan - where he made sure we didn't concede a goal over two legs. However, he's probably best remembered for three stunning saves in the second half of one of the most important matches of the 2009/10 season as we fought for fourth place - keeping out Robin van Persie twice and Sol Campbell. Capped 11 times by Brazil, Gomes joined Watford in 2014 and enjoyed six seasons at Vicarage Road before retiring in 2020.
Younes
Kaboul
Legacy Number #724
140 appearances, 8 goals - 2007-2015
Younes joined us as a young man from Auxerre, he was just 21 when he first arrived in 2007, signing at the same time as Gareth Bale and Darren Bent. He went on to make 140 appearances for us in two spells, 2007/2008 then 2010-2015, following 18 months away at Portsmouth. Named captain at the start of 2014/15, Younes moved to Sunderland in the summer of 2015, then to Watford, his final appearance in September, 2017. He will always be remembered for big moments – his late equaliser in the 125 Anniversary Match against Villa in October, 2007, his powerful run to set up Peter Crouch’s winner at City to secure Champions League qualification in May, 2010 and a few months later, his winner as we came from 2-0 down to beat Arsenal at the Emirates.

Robbie
Keane
Legacy Number #672
306 appearances, 122 goals - 2002-2011
A modern-day Spurs hero, ‘Keano’ joined us 2002 and thrilled fans for the next nine years, captained the Club, became only one of 18 players to hit 100 goals for Spurs, reached 300 appearances and, most memorably, helped us lift the League Cup in 2008 having dispatched of Arsenal 5-1 in the semi-final, second leg. He formed a lethal partnership with Dimitar Berbatov – the pair accounting for 91 goals in all competitions in 2006/07 and 2007/08. Robbie departed for a new life in America with LA Galaxy in the MLS in 2011 and, naturally, tore the place up. He won three MLS titles and was named MLS and MLS Cup MVP in 2014. His stats are incredible - in over six seasons in the MLS, he scored 83 goals and claimed 45 assists in 125 regular-season appearances. His last move took him to India, initially as Teddy Sheringham’s main man at ATK, then a brief spell as manager following Teddy’s departure. Since then, he’s managed Maccabi Tel Aviv and his now boss at Ferencvaros in Hungary.
Ledley
King
Legacy Number #649
323 appearances, 14 goals - 1999-2012
'Oh Ledley, Ledley…' one of our own, a one-Club man, the King graduated through our Academy to become a Spurs great, and one of the best central defenders of the Premier League era. Making his debut aged 18 at Anfield in May, 1999, Ledley made his full England debut in 2002 and was part of the Euro 2004 squad. Back in N17, he was appointed captain in 2005, a role he held for seven years, his greatest day lifting the League Cup at Wembley in 2008. Ledley’s injury issues are well documented, on the field, his commanding displays, particularly alongside Michael Dawson, saw us reach the Champions League by finishing fourth in 2009/10, performances that earned a call into England’s 2010 World Cup squad. Ledley was forced to retire in 2012, but has been a popular Club Ambassador since, and has a mural to forever mark his place in our history near to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the High Road.

Aaron
Lennon
Legacy Number #707
367 appearances, 30 goals - 2005-2015
A jet-heeled winger with the pace to trouble any defence, Aaron joined us from Leeds United aged 18 in 2005 – less than a year later, he was on the plane to Germany as part of England’s 2006 World Cup squad. That was ‘Azza’s’ first year of 10 at Spurs, taking in 367 appearances – placing him in the Club’s all-time top 25. His performances were such a weapon as we won the League Cup in 2008 – where he scored in the 5-1 win against Arsenal in the semi-final, and started the final – and progressed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 2010. Few fans will forget his part in Peter Crouch’s winning goal in the Round of 16 first leg against AC Milan at the San Siro in 2011 and he remains one of only 10 players to have made 50 appearances for us in Europe. Capped 21 times by England, Azza later played for Everton, Kayserispor in Turkey and Burnley before retiring in 2022.
Allan
Nielsen
Legacy Number #625
115 appearances, 18 goals - 1996-2000
Allan’s early career saw spells at FC Bayern, Sion, Odense, FC Copenhagen and Brondby before he joined us in July, 1996. He went on to make 115 appearances for us between 1996-2000, but will always be remembered for his stooping header to secure the League Cup trophy in such dramatic style that afternoon at Wembley, following in when Kasey Keller parried Steffen Iversen’s cross. Capped 44 times by Denmark, a goalscorer at Euro 96 and the 1998 World Cup, Allan departed for Watford in 2000 and had a spell back in Denmark at Herfølge in 2003, including coaching the team in 2004/05.

Super-consistent central defender signed from Wimbledon at the start of the 1999-2000 campaign, Chris featured in 102 of a possible 114 Premier League matches for us over the next three seasons. He also played in every match of our run to the 2002 League Cup Final, which he started, a run that included a 5-1 win against Chelsea in the semi-final. Chris moved to Charlton in 2003 and had spells at West Brom, Luton and Southampton until 2010 - racking up 583 career appearances.
Sandro
Legacy Number #761
105 appearances, 3 goals - 2010-2014
A fans favourite in N17, fondly nicknamed 'The Beast', Sandro became a cult figure with his all-action performances for us between 2010-2014, not least as we reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League at the first attempt in 2010/11 – arguably his best games in a Spurs shirt came in our Round of 16 victory over AC Milan. The midfielder made his debut for Internacional in Brazil at the age of 18. He joined us aged 21 in 2010 and went on to make 105 appearances, his time here hampered by a serious knee injury in 2012/13. He moved to QPR in 2014 and went on to have spells in Turkey, Italy and Portugal before retiring in 2023. Capped 17 times by Brazil, Sandro returned to action for non-league side Harborough Town in their FA Cup second round tie at Reading earlier this season.

Sheringham
Legacy Number #599
277 appearances, 124 goals - 1992-2003
An English striking great, still in the top 15 of the Premier League’s all-time goalscorers with 146, Teddy made his name at Millwall (1983-1991) before switching to Forest. He was at Forest for just one season before we snapped him up for the first season of the Premier League – he duly won the Golden Boot with 23 goals in 1992/93. Teddy formed a magnificent striking partnership with Jurgen Klinsmann in 1994/95, the pair plundered 52 goals between them in all competitions as we looked on for FA Cup glory after beating Liverpool at Anfield, only to lose in the semi-final. Teddy moved to United in 1997, won the treble in 1999 (scoring in both the FA Cup and Champions League finals) and the PFA/Football Writers’ Association double in 2000/01 before switching back to Spurs in 2001. He took his Club tally to 124 goals before departing for Portsmouth in 2003. Further spells followed at West Ham and Colchester before retiring aged 42 in 2008. He’s had managerial spells at Ipswich and ATK in India. Capped 51 times by England, Teddy played a key role in the Three Lions’ run to the semi-finals of Euro 96. Six years later, he scored in the draw against Greece – famed for David Beckham’s late free-kick, that took England to the 2002 World Cup. Teddy earned his place in Sven Goran Eriksson’s squad for Japan/Korea, aged 36.
Teemu
Tainio
Legacy Number #705
83 appearances, 3 goals - 2005-2008
The former Finland international grew up in Lapland supporting Spurs and dreaming of following in the footsteps of his boyhood heroes, Paul Gascoigne and Gary Lineker. He lived that dream as he joined us from Auxerre in 2005, making 83 appearances before departing in 2008. Teemu began his career at his home club FC Haka before his switch to France in 1998. He played over 200 times for Auxerre in Ligue 1 before joining our central midfield ranks, which included the likes of Michael Carrick, Edgar Davids and Jermaine Jenas. A goalscorer in our 4-3 win at West Ham in 2007, Teemu started our 5-1 win against Arsenal in the League Cup semi-final, second leg, before appearing off the bench to help us secure the trophy against Chelsea, a career highlight. Teemu went on to play for Sunderland, Birmingham and Ajax before a spell in the MLS at New York Red Bulls. He finished his career back in Finland at HJK in 2014.
