Robert Vilahamn has revealed that Eveliina Summanen is set to face a number of weeks on the sidelines after picking up an injury in training.

The midfielder – a starter in all 10 WSL matches prior to today’s fixture – was not involved in the matchday squad for our 1-0 win over Leicester City in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday afternoon, with Olga Ahtinen replacing her fellow Finland international in midfield.

An early own goal from Janina Leitzig was enough to secure the three points at Brisbane Road in our first game of the new year but, speaking after the game, our Head Coach confirmed that Eveliina has suffered a hamstring injury and is set for a minimum of four weeks out of action.

Speaking to the media after the match, he said: “Eveliina has an injury so she will be out for four, five or six weeks with a hamstring injury picked up yesterday.”
