Team news from Everton | Garner back, McNeil still out

Fri 17 January 2025, 16:45|Tottenham Hotspur

James Garner could return for Everton as we travel to Goodison Park for the final time in the Premier League on Sunday (2pm UK).

David Moyes confirmed on Friday that the midfielder - out since October with a back issue - is back in training. Moyes, who returned to Goodison last week, is still without playmaker Dwight McNeil, Tim Iroegbunam, Youssef Chermiti, Seamus Coleman and Chelsea loanee Armando Broja, who picked up an ankle injury in the FA Cup third round tie against Peterborough United last week.

Speaking in Friday's pre-match press conference, Moyes said: “Jimmy is back on the pitch training but the others at the moment aren’t. We’re hoping Dwight isn’t too far away but we’re just waiting on some more information. Tim is about to get back training, Seamus just had a slight injury in training."

Ben Davies is back in the frame for us after recovering from a hamstring injury sustained at Bournemouth on 5 December. Fraser Forster is also back in training. Ange Postecoglou reported on Friday that Yves Bissouma and Brennan Johnson were doubtful and Guglielmo Vicario, Cuti Romero, Micky van de Ven, Destiny Udogie, Rodrigo Bentancur, Wilson Odobert and Timo Werner are all out.
