Josefine Rybrink is relishing the opportunity of playing in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

Following three seasons at BK Hacken, where she made over 100 appearances, the central defender penned a deal with us until the end of the 2024/25 campaign and she will wear the number 12 shirt.

Racking up over 200 senior career appearances to date, with those coming in spells at Kungsbacka, Kristianstads and BK Hacken, Josefine will embark on a new challenge in her career.

And although this will be her first time playing for a club out of her native country, the Sweden international is excited to get started and test herself in what she described as the ‘best league in the world’.

I have been taking good steps in my career all the time and I feel like this is the right way to go, where I can really develop as a player and as a person here.

“I’m so excited to be here,” she told SPURSPLAY on her arrival. “It’s a big Club, so to be able to move here and come to this Club, I’m looking forward to it.

“I think I have been taking good steps in my career all the time and I feel like this is the right way to go, where I can really develop as a player and as a person here.

“I have heard so much about it (the WSL), it’s a really good league and I think it will suit me very well, all the games are really competitive, a lot of tough games, so I’m really looking forward to playing against the best players in the world.”

Josefine joins us after another successful campaign for BK Hacken, featuring in 24 of their 26 league games last term as they finished second in the table, taking her tally to 112 appearances in total for the Swedish side.

Having enjoyed a spell at Kristianstads, where she played alongside midfielder Eveliina Summanen, before moving to BK Hacken in 2022, the experienced defender has since accumulated 147 games in total in the Swedish top flight.

Reflecting on her career to date, she said: “I started to play from the age of six and then I changed to Kungsbacka, that was my first elite club to play in.

“I played there for three years and then I moved to Kristiandads where I played for four years. I moved there after I graduated school, and then I came to Hacken, so I have only played in Sweden, this is my first time abroad.

“I want to become a better football player here and also grow as a person, and I feel like Tottenham has something really special going on, to compete against the top teams and try to win some titles as well.”

So, what can we expect from our new arrival?

“I would say I’m a calm player that likes to have the ball a lot, I like to play through the lines and be aggressive in my play, and I would say I’m a modern centre-back.

“Being in a team, being with the girls and a combination of things together, I think that’s the key to success to being a good team and you feeling really good, that’s the best thing in football.”
