Goalscorer Sonny your Player of the Match after victory in Hoffenheim

Heung-Min Son has been named your HSBC Player of the Match after he bagged a brace to see us to a 3-2 win over Hoffenheim on Thursday evening.

Leading from the front, the skipper delivered an inspiring performance plus two goals to help us defeat the German side and take top spot in our Player of the Match poll, which is hosted exclusively on our official App.

Playing his 436th game for the Club - the 10th most appearances made by a single player in our 143-year history - Sonny sparkled in his former home Germany as he was again put a Bundesliga side to the sword.

Having spent seven years in Germany before his 2015 move to north London, while this was our first competitive meeting with Hoffenheim, this was Sonny's ninth, and he had already previously scored in Sinsheim.

And so it came to no surprise to see him fire home with 22 minutes on the clock to double our lead after James Maddison's majestic early opener. He then went onto bag our third at a crucial moment in the game to see us over the line.

Those were his seventh and eighth goals against German opposition just in his time in north London. To put that into perspective, he has only managed more goals against just five Premier League sides in that time.
