Damola Ajayi has been officially assigned his Legacy Number after he made his first team debut for the Club - and in some style - on Thursday night against Elfsborg.

Forward Damola was brought on as a late substitute in the game for his first senior appearance and made an immediate impact, scoring his first senior goal just three minutes after entering the fray.

With us already ahead thanks to a maiden Dane Scarlett strike, the attack-minded Academy graduate Damola was brought off the bench on 81 minutes for his debut and quickly made his presence known.

Getting on the ball and looking to make things happen, on 84 minutes, the 19-year-old cut inside from the right-hand side before playing a neat one-two with Dane before stroking the ball into the near-side of the goal.

He became the first player to score on their debut for the Club since Arnaut Danjuma back in January, 2023, when he scored in our FA Cup win over Preston North End. He was the first Academy graduate to do so since Alfie Devine who also scored in the FA Cup as we defeated Marine 5-0 in January, 2021.

Fellow Academy graduate Mikey Moore later also scored his first ever goal for the Club on an unforgettable night for our youth system.

While bagging a goal on his debut, Damola has now been assigned Legacy Number 892.

An initiative to recognise every player that has played their part in our 142-year history, our Legacy Numbers project was launched in October, 2023, and has now seen 892 players honoured.
