Ange Postecoglou has good news on Wilson Odobert and reports that both Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner are progressing well.
The French winger, 20, looked lively in his early appearances following his arrival from Burnley in August, but then suffered a hamstring injury in our Carabao Cup win over Coventry City on 18 September, followed by a setback on his return in October which required surgery. He last appeared for us against AZ Alkmaar on 24 October.
Speaking to us on Friday morning, Ange had positive news on Wilson and fellow wingers Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner, who have both been out since mid January, Timo last appearing at Tamworth while Brennan last played at Arsenal.
Ange told us: “Wilson’s back, which is brilliant for him because he’s been out the longest and it’s been a long road for him to get back, but he’s back in team training. Obviously, he’s missed more football than the others, so we’ll see when we integrate him back into matchdays, but definitely looking good in training.
“Brennan is progressing well. Again, he joined in team training, he will train again today which means, whether it’s this weekend or next weekend, he’ll be good to go. Timo is also training with us and is getting pretty close to being available.”
Elsewhere, Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Destiny Udogie have all returned to full training and are expected to be back and available for selection ahead of the visit of United.
Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Radu Dragusin, Dominic Solanke and Richarlison all remain sidelined.
