Hayley Raso picked up an assist in the closing stages of their game against USA, but it wasn’t enough for Australia as they suffered back-to-back defeats in the SheBelieves Cup.
Earning her 86th cap for her country, Hayley started and completed the full match for the Matildas as she provided a lifeline in the final minutes of the game after the world’s number one side fired into a two-goal advantage thanks to goals from Lynn Biyendolo and Michelle Cooper.
The forward, who also featured in Friday’s defeat to Japan in their opening game of the tournament, delivered a pinpoint cross from the right-hand side and found Michelle Heyman inside the box and she headed the ball home to halve the deficit, however, USA held on to claim a 2-1 win.
Defender Charlotte Grant also started and completed 90 minutes for her 31st cap, while Clare Hunt was an unused substitute for the Matildas.
Elsewhere, Becky Spencer and Drew Spence helped Jamaica to a 2-0 victory over Peru in an international friendly on Sunday evening.
Becky started and played the full match as she preserved a clean sheet for her nation, while midfielder Drew also completed 90 minutes as goals from Jody Brown and Kayla Jay McKenna recorded the win for the Reggae Girlz.
Araya Dennis was a second half substitute for England Under-19s as they ran out 2-0 winners over USA in the Albir Garden Tournament in Alicante, Spain.
