Getting to Portman Road
Train
Portman Road is located between the town centre and railway station, approximately an 8-10 minute walk from the railway station. If you come out of the station and look straight ahead, you will see the floodlights and the stadium.
Ipswich station is served by regular trains from Liverpool Street, with many trains on the route also calling at Stratford. If you are travelling into Liverpool Street on Greater Anglia routes, please check your travel in advance due to planned engineering works on the network.
Car
Although there are no official stadium car parks, there is parking around the ground and surrounding areas. The closest is a large park on Portman Road (IP1 2BP) next to the away end, though please note that entry/exit for this car park will be closed from 15 minutes before kick-off until 15 minutes after full-time. The car park takes approximately one hour to clear post-match.
Alternative large car parks are also available on West End Road (IP1 2DZ, 5 minutes away by foot) and at the railway station (IP2 8AL, 10 minutes away by foot), as well as within the town centre itself.
Please note: Ipswich Borough Council have recently introduced event day pricing in the long-stay car parks adjacent to the stadium. A parking charge of £15 is applied from three hours prior to kick-off to one hour after kick-off. This also applies to Blue Badge holders. More information on this and other car park options can be found within Ipswich’s Visiting Fan Guide.
As Portman Road is a town centre ground, most nearby streets have controlled, residents-only parking and supporters should not attempt to park on these roads.
Entering the stadium
The visitors’ section is located across the upper and lower tiers of the Cobbold Stand, with the three upper tier blocks containing both safe standing and seated options.
The entrances to the away end blocks – VU1, VU2, VU3, VL and VA of the Cobbold Stand – are situated on Portman Road next to the away ticket collection windows.
Supporters can expect to be searched prior to entering Portman Road. The Club also uses a trained K9 unit and some stewards, as well as police officers, wear body cameras on matchdays. Fans are encouraged to arrive in plenty of time to allow searches to take place and a safe and steady flow through to the turnstiles. Please also have your match ticket ready for inspection and join the queue for the entrance detailed on your ticket.
Stewards will be on hand to assist.
Accessibility
Ipswich Town’s accessibility guide can be found here…
Fans requiring accessible seating will be located in the lower tier of the Cobbold Stand in blocks VA (wheelchairs) and VL. This area is not all under cover, so please be prepared in the event of inclement weather.
Accessible toilets are located on the concourse of the lower tier of the Cobbold Stand
Any disabled or ambulant disabled fans arriving by coach can arrange to be dropped off closer to the ground than the coach park, which is a 5-10 minute walk from the away end. For more details, please contact Ipswich’s Disability Liaison Officer (DLO) Lee Smith on 01473 400556 in advance of the game.
If you are parking in any of the long stay car parks close to the stadium, please remain mindful that the £15 event day pricing recently introduced by Ipswich Borough Council is also applicable to Blue Badge holders.
The Club has radio headsets available to supporters with visual impairments ran through Soccer Sight, who provide dedicated descriptive commentary. If you would like to reserve headsets or you have any special requirements, please contact Ipswich’s DLO Lee Smith in advance on the number above or via lee.smith@itfc.co.uk.
Visiting Supporters’ Pub
The Station Hotel, located opposite the railway station, is the official away pub. It has a garden and TV screens, with beers mostly from the Greene King stable, and has been expanded for the 2024/25 season.
Visiting fans are strongly encouraged to use the designated away pub as most pubs around the ground are for home fans only. Similarly, few pubs around the town, if any, will welcome large groups of away fans. Portman Road’s FanZone marquee and entertainment zone are also only open to home fans, with ticket checks in place.
Matchday programme
The 84-page matchday programme costs £3.50 and can be purchased from the Club shop, Planet Blue, as well as various kiosks outside the stadium.
Please note, programmes will not be available to purchase once inside the ground, and cash payments will not be accepted by any vendor.
Bag Policy
The maximum bag size is A4 (12x8x3 inches). Exceptions can apply, such as to bags containing medical equipment, medication and baby changing items.
Water bottles are allowed in the stadium provided they are no bigger than 500ml.
Please note that there are no facilities to leave bags.
Cashless payments
Portman Road is a cashless stadium. This includes Planet Blue (the Club shop), the programme kiosks positioned around the stadium, and all concourse bars. All major debit and credit cards are accepted, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Ticket Office
The away ticket collection windows can be found near to the away turnstiles and next to the away supporters’ accessible entrance. Staff at this window will also deal with any enquiries you may have on the day.
Duplicate tickets must be requested by emailing ticket.office@tottenhamhotspur.com and will only be provided on production of valid photo ID.
Flags and banners
Subject to space, flags and banners are allowed in the away end. These will require a safety fire certificate and should be fire retardant. All flags and banners will be scrutinised before you enter the stadium. For questions relating to this contact Neil McCluskey on neil.mccluskey@itfc.co.uk.
Supporters are reminded that the Club’s own Flags and Banners Policy is also in operation at away matches.
Prohibited Items
Persons in possession of any of the items listed below will be refused entry into the ground:
Bags larger than A4, baby buggies/prams, video recording equipment, large lens cameras, cigarettes/e-cigarettes and vapes, drinking glasses, canned drinks, glass/plastic bottles larger than 500ml, darts/knives/weapons, fireworks/flares, gas/smoke cannisters, tools, air horns/musical instruments, flags/sticks, umbrellas, selfie sticks, pyrotechnics of any kind.
As with all grounds, and to comply with legislation, using pyrotechnics or attempting to take them into the stadium is a criminal offence.
Spurs respects
We are proud of our superb and loyal support at home and away.
We recognise that most supporters want to watch a football match and not listen to abusive or indecent language from the stands. Discriminatory or violent behaviour, including racist, homophobic, sexist or anti-disability shouting, chanting or actions, is unacceptable.
The Club reserves the right to indefinitely ban supporters found guilty of using discriminatory language or violent behaviour.
Reporting anti-social behaviour
To report an incident at Portman Road, please text ITFC and your message to the anonymous number 60650, including stand/row/seat numbers and names if known. All reports will be handled in the strictest confidence.
Unauthorised use of tickets
Supporters are reminded that the unauthorised reselling or passing on of tickets is strictly prohibited. In line with the Club's Sanctions & Banning Policy, supporters selling away match tickets above face value will receive an indefinite ban and deduction of all Ticketing Points. Supporters passing on away match tickets equal to face value or less will receive a written warning and a 50 per cent reduction of Ticketing Points.
Supporters unable to attend
Supporters unable to attend the match should contact the Ticket Office as soon as possible. The Club will make best endeavours to reallocate tickets to other eligible supporters and issue refunds upon receipt of original tickets.
