'When you hear Tottenham Hotspur is interested, the only thing you can do is say yes!' - Danso

Kevin Danso couldn't be more excited of the opportunity that lies ahead of him in north London.

Our second January signing, Austria international centre-back Kevin, arrived at Hotspur Way early on Sunday morning and it was apparent from our initial conversation just how excited he was to get the call and receive the opportunity to join the Club.

“It feels amazing (to sign). I’ve always wanted to play for a big club in the Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur is exactly that… I think as soon as you hear Tottenham Hotspur is interested, the only thing you can do is say yes," he beamed in his first interview as a Spurs player.

When asked what made the move the right one for him, the defender explained: "Just everything, especially through the last few years, how big the club has become — they’ve got into a Champions League final before. It’s just an amazing project to be a part of and I’m happy to be here.

“There’s opportunities to win trophies. I think that is every kid’s dream growing up — to win trophies at a Club like Tottenham Hotspur.”

Fans may not be aware that Kevin’s move represents something of a homecoming, having moved to the UK from Austria as a six-year old.

Spending time in the academies of both Reading and Milton Keynes Dons, the latter around the same time as Spurs icon Dele Alli, before moving to Germany in 2014 to join FC Augsburg, he also revealed to us that, once upon a time, he actually lined up against our number 19 Dominic Solanke as a child.

Humbly admitting Dom was quite the player back then as well, our new number four is now looking forward to lining up on the same side as the striker and in Lilywhite.

“Definitely (it was the plan to return to England). I grew up playing academy football here. Everyone watches the Premier League. As I said, it’s a dream come true.

“I’m not sure I imagined (going onto play alongside Dominic), but it’s happening now, so I look forward to it. I must say, he had a really good game (back then) so hopefully he has many more good games at Spurs and helps us win a lot more games, and I can help the team do the same.”
