Vicario your Player of the Match after Qarabag heroics

Guglielmo Vicario has claimed the HSBC Player of the Match award after his stunning performance between the sticks helped us defeat Qarabag 3-0 on Thursday night.

A man who is no stranger to producing stunning saves, our number one came top of our Player of the Match poll hosted exclusively on our Official App to claim his first award of the season after delivering a resolute display in our net.

Keeping his second clean sheet of the season, our shot stopper had to be at his best against the Azerbaijani champions on Thursday night, especially after Radu Dragusin's early dismissal put us up against it early on.

However, despite the disadvantage we faced in terms of personnel for more than 80 minutes, we stood firm and managed to claim our second clean sheet of the season. And, while a committed shift from our defenders was key to that, Vic was called upon to make a number of crucial stops, and those can not be underestimated.

The Italy international made four saves during the game with his reflex save to deny Cafarguliyev late on the best of the bunch. He even took the captain's armband for the first time since his arrival in north London after Ben Davies thrust it upon him following Heung-Min Son's substitution.
