Home tie with Manchester City in the Carabao Cup fourth round
Wed 25 September 2024, 22:25|Tottenham Hotspur
We have drawn Manchester City at home in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
The tie shall be played in the week commencing 28 October.
This will be our fifth meeting with Man City in the competition and we have won three out of the first four encounters.
First drawing them in 1992, we travelled to Maine Road and edged the East Manchester outfit 1-0 thanks to a Vinny Samways effort.
We then hosted them at White Hart Lane in December, 2003, in the fourth round, That time we enjoyed a 3-1 victory with Darren Anderton, Helder Postiga and Fredi Kanoute all registering.
On our way to lifting the League Cup back in 2008, we defeated City in the quarter-finals, running out 2-0 winners at Eastlands thanks to goals from Jermain Defoe and Steed Malbranque.
Our one and only defeat against them in competition to date came in our latest meeting as we faced the Citizens in the 2021 final at Wembley. A late Aymeric Laporte header seeing City to glory under the arch with a 1-0 win.
With Tottenham Hotspur Stadium set to host this game, it means each of the five ties between the two sides in this competition will have been played at different grounds.
