Brandon Austin today surprised children at a primary school in Tottenham by unveiling their new multi-use games area.

The sports facility at Chestnuts Primary School was completed this summer following a fundraising effort driven by the Parent Staff Association.

The building will be a dedicated space for children from the school to focus on the development of their football skills.

Brandon delighted attendees by cutting the ribbon to officially open the facility before taking part in a Q&A in which the goalkeeper reflected on his own time growing up within the Club’s youth academy and offered advice to the pupils.

Speaking at the school, Brandon said: “It has been a great day, it was a real privilege to open the school’s new games area. I loved seeing how excited the kids were to have the facility opened and to have the opportunity to put smiles on all their faces.”

Katie Horwood, Headteacher at Chestnuts Primary School, said: “Having Brandon come down to open the multi-use games area was a dream come true for the children. They loved the opportunity to ask him questions and find out more about the journey to becoming a professional footballer. An afternoon they won’t forget!”

Chestnuts Primary is one of 14 primary schools in Haringey and Enfield supported by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation‘s Premier League Primary Stars programme.

Premier League Primary Stars uses the appeal of the Premier League and professional football clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills. The overall aim of the project is to improve the confidence of teaching staff to deliver quality PE sessions in schools.

The Club has supported 36 teachers to deliver PE lessons in targeted schools, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
