Bissouma hits winner for Mali as goalscoring purple patch continues
Tue 10 September 2024, 16:00|Tottenham Hotspur
Yves Bissouma's prolific start to the 2024/25 continued on Tuesday as he fired home his third of the campaign in what was just his fourth game.
Having previously found the target this term firstly for us in our home opener with Everton last month - his first in our colours - before he struck for Mali against Mozambique in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last week, the midfielder bagged his third of the season on Tuesday when he scored the matchwinner for Mali against Eswatini in Mali's second qualifier of September.
Coming out on top as he led the high press, captaining his nation, Yves picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box before drilling it into the near corner against the southern African nation to give his nation their first three points of the qualifying campaign. He started the game and played 65 minutes before being substituted.
The goal continues Yves' remarkable start to the campaign. Having previously not scored a competitive goal since April, 2022, (two years and four months ago) and an international goal since June, 2017, (seven years and three months ago), the midfielder has found a purple patch thus far this season with three goals already in just four outings.

And, we shouldn't forget that Yves found a taste for goals back in pre-season as he found the back of the net in our 2-0 win away at QPR in July.

The win for Mali continued their unbeaten start to qualifying with Yves responsible for scoring all of their goals so far (two). He now has five goals and 34 caps to his name for his nation.
