Destiny Udogie stepped off the bench to set up Italy’s third goal as they began their latest UEFA Nations League campaign with an impressive 3-1 win in France on Friday night.

The left-back was introduced shortly after the hour mark with the score at 2-1 and provided the assist for Giacomo Raspadori to complete the scoring with 16 minutes remaining.

Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario was an unused substitute for Italy.

Elsewhere in the Nations League, Ben Davies and Brennan Johnson both played the full game for Wales as they began life under new Head Coach Craig Bellamy with a goalless draw at home to 10-man Turkey.

Radu Dragusin also put in a full shift for Romania in their 3-0 victory in Kosovo, while on-loan Manor Solomon captained Israel as they lost 3-1 to Belgium in Hungary.

Two of our midfielders were involved in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Friday, Yves Bissouma on target for Mali as they drew 1-1 at home to Mozambique, while Pape Matar Sarr started for Senegal as they produced the same scoreline at home to Burkina Faso. Pape was withdrawn mid-way through the second half.

Three players saw action in qualifying for the European Under-21 Championship – Archie Gray played the full game for England Under-21s as they were held to a goalless draw in Northern Ireland, Wilson Odobert came on for the last 20 minutes of France Under-21s’ 1-1 home draw with Slovenia while on-loan goalkeeper Josh Keeley kept a clean sheet to help Republic of Ireland Under-21s win 1-0 in Turkey.

Another on-loan duo were in action in Istanbul as Ashley Phillips and Dane Scarlett started for England’s Under-20 Elite League side in a 1-1 draw with Turkey. Defender Ash played the full game, Dane was replaced in added time having also started, while goalkeeper Luca Gunter was an unused substitute.

On Wednesday, Leo Black scored a late equaliser for England Under-19s in their friendly clash with Italy in Croatia. The versatile midfielder, who along with Spurs team-mate Mikey Moore was introduced as a second-half substitute, struck with four minutes remaining to make it 2-2.

Under-18s regulars Malachi Hardy, Jun’ai Byfield and Luca Williams-Barnett, meanwhile, helped England Under-17s to a 5-0 victory over Mexico in Germany on the same day. Defenders Malachi and Jun’ai both started, with attacker Luca coming off the bench just after the hour mark.
