Ange on chances for youngsters in Coventry tie

Wed 18 September 2024, 14:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Ange Postecoglou has discussed the possibility of a number of our younger players featuring in tonight's Carabao Cup clash with Coventry City.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon, Ange was asked about whether the likes of recent arrivals Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall - both 18-years-old - and Academy graduate Mikey Moore - 17-years-old - could play their part at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Explaining that he had hoped to have given more minutes to the trio by now, Ange stressed that we are now entering a period where they are set to have a much bigger involvement given the fixture schedule that sits ahead of us.

And that is the same outlook our Head Coach has for a number of the other younger players in the squad who have had limited opportunities thus far, including Pape Matar Sarr (22), Radu Dragusin (22) and Wilson Odobert (19).

"They're ready to play. We're keen to give them some game time. That's why we brought them to the Club," Ange began as he responded to the question about Archie and Lucas.

"They're training really well. The games haven't gone the way we wanted in terms of giving them some more exposure but we always knew this was the period in which it starts, not just between now and the next international break, but post that. Probably until the end of January we're going to have a really busy schedule and they're going to play a big part in that.

"So, guys like those three you mentioned and Wilson (Odobert), who hasn't played a lot so far, Pape (Matar Sarr), Radu (Dragusin), we're keen to get them playing because we're going to need them."
