Ange Postecoglou has been discussing the factors behind his team selection for tonight's Carabao Cup clash with Coventry City.

For the third round tie, our Head Coach has made eight changes to the side which fell 1-0 in the north London derby.

Fraser Forster comes in between the sticks in place of Guglielmo Vicario for his first appearance in over a year, while Radu Dragusin, Ben Davies and Archie Gray - making his full debut - come into our defence with only Destiny Udogie retaining his place.

In midfield, Pape Matar Sarr returns to the starting XI to parter Rodrigo Bentancur, who also retains his place while Lucas Bergvall comes in for his first start.

In our forward line, Dominic Solanke continues to spearhead the side with Wilson Odobert returing while TImo Werner makes his first start since the north London derby in April.

"It's a combination of factors," Ange explained on his line up. "One is, we want to win so we want to put out a strong line up. Some guys who we feel need some game time because they have been training really well. Some others have been left out because there's still a bit of recovery from the weekend's game. Overall, we feel the line up can do the job tonight.

"The (younger faces) are ready to play and I'm excited to give them the opportunity. they have been patient, Archie (Gray), Lucas (Bergvall) and Wilson (Odobert). It'll be great to get them out there and I'm sure they'll put in a good account of themselves. they've been training really well."
