Heung-Min Son is not quite ready to be involved against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup fourth round on Wednesday evening, revealed Ange Postecoglou.
Our Club captain made a goalscoring return from a hamstring issue against West Ham United in the Premier League on 19 October but since missed our Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar and 1-0 league defeat at Crystal Palace last time out.
Sonny has missed five of our last six matches in all competitions after being forced off in the UEL win against Qarabag on 26 September and Ange confirmed on Tuesday (29 October) that he will remain out for tomorrow night's cup tie.
Our Head Coach now prepares the squad for consecutive home games - City in the Carabao Cup last 16 (8.15pm UK) followed by Villa in the league on Sunday (2pm) - and that the aim is for our skipper to return in our league fixture at the weekend.
"Sonny is almost fit but probably from our perspective we'll aim for the weekend and we're quite confident he'll be right," said Ange, speaking in his press conference.
