Robert Vilahamn has explained why Maite Oroz is not part of our matchday squad for today’s Barclays Women’s Super League clash with Manchester United.
The midfielder, who has featured in the opening three games of our WSL campaign since joining from Real Madrid last month, has suffered a soft tissue injury this week ahead of our trip to Leigh Sports Village.
Missing our encounter with United this afternoon, our Head Coach, Robert, also confirmed that the 26-year-old Spain international is set to be sidelined for a number of weeks.
Speaking ahead of the match, Robert said: "We have some small and big injuries, Maite's is a big injury so she will be unavailable for a few weeks now and Olga [Ahtinen] has come in for her."
Amanda Nilden and Hayley Raso have also missed the trip to Leigh Sports Village this afternoon after picking up small injuries.
On why Amanda and Hayley were absent from today's clash, he added: "Amanda and Hayley have smaller injuries, but that gives room for Charlotte [Grant] and Bethany [England]. The game is like that, we just need to make sure we handle it and we have good players coming in."
