Spurs Remembers

Mon 28 October 2024, 11:15|Tottenham Hotspur

As we enter this period of Remembrance, the Club will be paying its respects to those that have lost their lives in armed conflict and showing support for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

Our Men’s and Women’s players will be wearing special edition poppy shirts in our Premier League home games against Aston Villa (3 November) and Ipswich Town (10 November), and WSL matches at home to West Ham (3 November) and away to Manchester City (8 November), all of which will be signed and auctioned by the players to raise funds for the Legion.

For the first time this year, the Club will also be remembering animals lost in service, with a purple poppy wreath laid on the pitch, alongside a traditional red poppy wreath, at both our Women’s home match against West Ham United on Sunday 3 November and our Men’s home match against Ipswich Town on Sunday 10 November.

Since 2006, purple poppies have been a symbol of remembrance for animal victims of war and have helped raise thousands for charities including Animal Aid, Murphy’s Army, the War Horse Memorial and the Blue Cross.

As a Club that recognises and supports the welfare of animals - including our existing work through the Tottenham Hotspaw initiative with All Dogs Matter - the featured ‘Dog of the Match’ at the Ipswich game will be a military service dog.

Ahead of kick-off at both Men’s and Women’s matches, red and purple wreaths will be laid by serving members of our Armed Forces Spurs Official Supporters’ Club.

We shall then observe a period of silence, during which The Last Post will be played. On both occasions, this period of silence will start and end on the referee’s whistle - fans entering the stadium at this time may be restricted from accessing the seating area while the silence is in progress.

Our ever-popular Spurs Poppy pin badges are now on sale online and at the Tottenham Experience for a donation of £6 to the Royal British Legion. Fans will be able to bid for signed match-worn poppy shirts via MatchWornShirt, with proceeds going to the Royal British Legion.

As well as having the chance to bid on match-worn signed shirts, fans will be able to enter an online draw to win a poppy shirt that has been signed by the Men’s First Team squad. Further details can be found here.
