Scarlett scores again for Oxford United

Dane Scarlett netted his third goal in four games for Oxford United on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a home defeat at the hands of Swansea City in the Championship.

Our on-loan striker, who previously hit the target in consecutive 1-1 home draws with West Bromwich Albion and Derby County last month, stepped off the bench just prior to the hour mark against the Swans and proceeded to fire in an 88th-minute goal, a smart finish that went through the legs of defender Harry Darling and nestled into the far corner.

The U’s were already 2-0 down by that stage through goals from Zan Vipotnik and Florian Bianchini and despite their best efforts, it remained 2-1 to Swansea, a result that ended Oxford’s unbeaten home record this term.

United are 19th in the table, two points outside the drop zone.

Dane has made 10 appearances in all competitions since joining up with them in the summer.
