Dominic Solanke can't hide his delight at being back in the England senior squad.
After a strong start to life in Lilywhite following his summer move from AFC Bournemouth, Dominic has been recalled by his nation for the first time in seven years ahead their latest Nations League clashes.
Having last been with the Three Lions senior side back in 2017 for a friendly with Brazil at Wembley, Dom has been, by his own words, "working, working, working" for another opportunity and now, he has it!
Speaking exclusively to England's social media channels, our number 19 spoke about his pride at earning the opportunity to once again represent his country while he also revealed how he learnt of his recall and who he called first after receiving the incredible news.
It’s been a good few years and it’s been a while since I’ve been here so I’m delighted to be back
"(I've been) working, working, working," Dom beamed as he discussed his journey since his last cap almost seven years ago. "It’s been a good few years and it’s been a while since I’ve been here so I’m delighted to be back - back with the boys and representing my country.
"There’s still a few familiar faces and I know a few of the boys, and obviously back at St George’s Park. So it’s nice. It’s good."
Speaking about the moment he received the news, the striker said, "I actually had a game on the Thursday (our 2-1 win over Ferencvaros) so I was waiting for, hopefully, the call in the morning. I got the message to give him a call. I called him, we had a chat and notified me that I would be in the squad. So from that moment I was obviously buzzing."
On who he called first after getting the nod, Dom smiled, "My mum. She was obviously over the moon. She’s followed my whole career so it’s a special moment for her as well."
