Hunt on taking positives from Liverpool clash: “We move forward from here"

Tue 08 October 2024, 15:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Clare Hunt isn’t looking to dwell on the weekend’s result and is aiming to quickly shift focus on our trip to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon (12.30pm UK).

Despite fighting back on two occasions at Brisbane Road, Liverpool escaped with three points after a stoppage-time penalty from Marie Hobinger handed us our first defeat of the campaign.

The Australia international, who has featured in our opening four games of the season since making the move to Hotspur Way in the summer, grabbed her first goal for the Club, although in some fortunate fashion, as her left-footed strike ricocheted off Gemma Bonner and into the back of the net to bring the scoreline 2-2 at the time.

With the visitors grabbing a late, late winner, the defender is keen to take the positives from the second-half performance to take them into our clash with United at the weekend.

“I think we were a bit flat in the first half,” she told SPURSPLAY after the game. “In the second half, we got some goals in the back of the net, we fought hard and we really needed to take all the opportunities we had.

“We move forward from here and we recognise what we did well in the second half and take that into the next game against Man Utd.

“I think we can recognise that we can score goals against good teams, the goals we conceded are quick fixes, so we can’t be too disappointed in the performance but there’s plenty to work on.

“We can beat Man Utd as we have done that in the past so we just roll into a new week and focus on Sunday’s game.”

Asked about the support at Brisbane Road, she replied: “It's nice to play here, the crowd are amazing and it’s important to have fans behind you. We appreciate your support and it means a lot to us for you all to be here.”
