Guglielmo Vicario to make competitive debut for Italy tonight

Gugliemo Vicario will make his long-awaited competitive debut for Italy tonight as they face Israel in the UEFA Nations League.

Having not made an appearance for Italy at any level up until his debut for the senior side in March earlier this year at the age of 27 and five months, it has been quite the journey to this moment for our number one.

A signing for us in the summer of 2023, Gugliemo has continued to go from strength to strength in a Spurs shirt after working diligently to build his career and reputation across the leagues in his homeland.

And, after a very strong first campaign in N17, he was given his first call up and caps in the blue shirt of the Azzurri and now, in his home town of Udine, Italy, he will make his first ever competitive appearance for his country as they face Israel

'Vic' was surprised by the news by his national team Head Coach, Luciano Spalletti, in the pre-match press conference on Sunday afternoon before he was subsequently asked by reporters for his reaction to the news.

“I come from this city, it is emotional for me to see friends and family in the stadium, it means a lot,” Vicatio said ahead of playing in his home town of Udine for his nation.

“Coming here, wearing the Azzurri shirt, where my childhood dream started is just indescribable. I am slowly starting to realise just what tomorrow evening (Monday 14 October) will be for me and all those who know me here.

“I am proud of the journey my career has taken me on and being here representing Italy just reminds me of all the steps along the way.”
