Chicago Bears’ Tremaine Edmunds to wear cleats designed by Huddle Project participants

Chicago Bears’ Tremaine Edmunds will take the field at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Sunday in a pair of cleats designed by participants in our Foundation’s Huddle Project.

Tremaine visited the dual football and flag football programme for local youngsters – fundedby the Club, the National Football League (NFL), through its NFL Foundation UK charitable arm, and Nike – on International Women’s Day earlier this year, alongside Spurs legends Ledley King and Jenna Schillaci.

Some of the girls who were taking part and met Tremaine, a Bears captain this season, have drawn designs that have been applied to a pair of cleats thanks to expert knowhow from global sneaker specialists CANVVS.

Tremaine received the cleats at the Bears’ training session on Wednesday and will wear them whilst warming up for his side’s game against Jacksonville Jaguars at the Home of the NFL in the UK.

He said: “It means a lot to know the kids were still thinking about me. They welcomed me with open arms and I really appreciate them giving me this gift – the cleats are amazing! Good job by everyone who helped design them.

“I’m looking forward to playing my first London game and experiencing the energy from the fans. When I went back after visiting in the off-season, I was telling my teammates all there was to offer, so everybody’s excited. It’s going to be truly special.”

The designs were ultimately applied to Tremaine’s cleats by local artist Leanne Richardson.

She said: “I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful cause – promoting flag football in schools across North London. It’s been a joy to paint the children’s illustrations onto the cleats, celebrating and showcasing the next generation of young athletes.

“I hope these cleats allow Tremaine to inspire even more children, fostering lasting change and enthusiasm for sports within the community.”

Marc Leckie, Chief Executive of Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, said: “The girls were really excited to have this opportunity after Tremaine visited one of their sessions earlier this year.

“We aim to inspire and empower local people to thrive at the Foundation, and the Huddle Project is a great example of bringing in partners such as the NFL and Nike for the benefit of our community.”

Alex Murray, CANVVS founder and CEO, said: “We’re lucky enough to work with some of the best-known brands from the world of sport, music, entertainment, tech and lifestyle, including the NFL, so it’s been a pleasure to help Leanne, the Huddle Project and SpursFoundation.”

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the only stadium purpose-built for NFL games outside of the USA, with bespoke facilities including its own playing surface, locker rooms and media areas. Last year, the Club announced an expansion of its partnership with the NFL through to the 2029/30 season.

Huddle Project sessions currently run in school term time, between 4.30pm and 6.30pm every Wednesday at Duke’s Aldridge Academy, opposite the Stadium, with girls’ only sessions at the school between the same times every Friday.

Participants who have not previously taken part must first complete the registration form linked to at the top of the page.
