Charlton Athletic head into the Women’s League Cup fixture sitting top of the FA Women’s Championship table following an unbeaten start to their 2024/25 campaign.
The Addicks, who are managed by our former manager Karen Hills, where she spent over a decade with us, have won their opening four games in the league – the only side in the division to do so.
Overcoming the league’s newcomers Portsmouth in the opening game of the season, Hills’ side have beaten Sheffield United, Durham and Blackburn Rovers last month, scoring eight goals in the process and conceding just once.
This extends their unbeaten run in the Championship to eight games – their last defeat coming back in March, 2024, in a 2-1 defeat to London City Lionesses at home.

Charlton began their campaign with a visit from Portsmouth, who secured promotion to England’s second tier for the first time in their history last season, to The Valley and a familiar name for Spurs fans inspired them to comfortable victory.
Ellie Brazil, who spent two seasons with us, bagged a brace inside 25 minutes with Jodie Hutton also on the scoresheet either side of Brazil’s goal.
A 1-0 win away at Sheffield United followed and Brazil was on target once again, as her sole strike on 58 minutes secured the three points for the east London side.
Hills’ side made it three wins from three after victory over Durham but, on this occasion, they were certainly made to work for it. Having fell behind in the early stages of the first half, Katie Bradley netted two goals in a three-minute spell to complete the turnaround and record a 2-1 win.
Last time out was a trip to Ewood Park to face Blackburn Rovers as two first half goals from Karin Muya and Elisha N’Dow secured a 2-0 win – a third clean sheet in the league – and a perfect start to their league campaign.
