Thursday evening saw Ange Postecoglou notch up his 50th competitive game as our Head Coach.

Appointed in the summer of 2023, he took charge of us for the first time in a 2-2 draw at Brentford on 13 August of that year – our opening game of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

And quick as a flash, he brought up his half-century when we defeated Ferencvaros 2-1 in the UEFA Europa League in Budapest on Thursday.

That was only his second European game in charge of us, following last week’s 3-0 home win over Qarabag.

Ange was asked about the milestone at his pre-Brighton press conference on Friday morning.

He smiled: “Many wouldn’t have said I’d make 50! Even when I was on 46! Any time you reach a milestone I guess it’s an indication that people still believe in what you’re trying to do. It has flown by, to be fair – 15, 16 months, 50 games – but I’ve enjoyed every one of them and hopefully the next 50 are ones where we can make a real impact.”
