Ange’s update on Sonny from Selhurst Park

Sun 27 October 2024, 17:10|Tottenham Hotspur

Ange Postecoglou is hopeful Heung-Min Son will be available as we prepare for two big matches next week.

Having played a starring role on his return from injury against West Ham last weekend, the skipper missed our 1-0 loss against Palace on Sunday, having sat out our win against AZ in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening. That means Sonny has missed five of our last six matches in all competitions since feeling an injury in the UEL win against Qarabag on 26 September.

Ange now prepares the squad for back-to-back home games - City in the Carabao Cup fourth round on Wednesday evening (8.15pm UK) followed by Villa in the Premier League on Sunday (2pm).

Speaking ahead of the game, Ange was asked about Sonny’s injury. He said: “It's not really a hamstring injury, but he was out for a while and wasn't feeling right after the last game, so we're just being conservative with him. All things being well, he should be all right for next week.”

Asked by SPURSPLAY after the game for an update, and if he might be able to feature in one of the matches against City or Villa, Ange replied: “He seems to be progressing well so, hopefully, he’ll be available for one of the games.”
