Ange praises striker Solanke after England recall

Thu 03 October 2024, 23:05|Tottenham Hotspur

Ange Postecoglou believes Dominic Solanke can be a “great asset” to the England national team after the striker earned a recall to the Three Lions’ ranks.

Interim England boss Lee Carsley named his squad on Thursday for this month’s matches at home to Greece and away to Finland in the UEFA Nations League.

In-form striker Dom was included - marking his first involvement for his national side since making his one and only appearance to date in a goalless draw with Brazil back in 2017.

Reflecting on the news in the wake of our 2-1 win at Ferencvaros in the Europa League on Thursday evening, where the former AFC Bournemouth striker featured as a second-half substitute, Ange said: “Credit to Dom, it’s reward for his hard work.

“I’ve got no doubt that he will be a fantastic player for us and if he continues as I know he can, he’ll be a great asset for the England team.”

Prior to Thursday’s outing in Hungary, Dom had scored in our last three consecutive matches.
