Radu: “This win will bring us even more together”

Radu Dragusin labelled our display and win at Manchester City as ‘one of the best, if not the best club game I’ve had’ after putting the champions to the sword on Saturday.

The Romania international defender put everything on the line alongside Ben Davies and our defensive unit to keep out the likes of Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Bernado Silva and Savinho at the Etihad.

Radu also played a huge part in the vital opening goal - it was from his pinpoint pass from deep that Dejan Kulusevski turned inside Josko Gvardiol and delivered for late-arriving James Maddison to plant past Ederson on 13 minutes. Birthday boy Madders added the second on 20 minutes with Pedro Porro (52) and Brennan Johnson (90+3) completing a night to remember.

Speaking to our Review Show, Radu told us: “I mean, for sure it's one of the best, if not the best club game that I’ve had. We did an amazing performance. It's the one we’ve worked for every day, why we give our best every day in training. We believe we can do something special this year and we want to continue on the same path.”

Asked how important it was to weather an early City storm before going on to win so convincingly, Radu said: “I think today we showed that we are more than team-mates, because of the way we suffered, the way we kept our chests up in an away game at City, one of the hardest games you can play. And, like I said, we did an unbelievable performance.

“I think this will only bring us even more together. We will understand that if we stick together, if we stick to our principles, if we work hard, we can achieve something very, very important this year.”
