Sun 03 November 2024, 21:00|Tottenham Hotspur

James Maddison's late free-kick in Sunday's 4-1 win over Aston Villa saw the midfielder reach a landmark tally for goals in the Premier League.

Whipping home the set-piece in the sixth minute of added time to wrap up the points in a huge win in N17, the goal was James' 50th career goal in the Premier League in his 201st appearance.

His third of the campaign in the league, the strike was Madders' seventh goal in the competition since he made the move to N17 in the summer of 2023, with his other 43 goals in the top flight coming during his five-year spell at Leicester City.

Of those 50 goals, four have now come against Aston Villa, with his goal on Sunday his first against the Villans at home in the competition.

The strike was the midfielder's 16th direct free-kick which he has scored in his professional career and his ninth in the Premier League. It was his first in the competition in over two years, last scoring one in a 4-0 win  over Nottingham Forest for the Foxes in October, 2022.

He is only the fifth player in Premier League history reach 50 goals without scoring a header after Kevin de Bruyne, Damien Duff, Peter Beardsley and Thierry Henry.
