Mon 04 November 2024, 15:00|Tottenham Hotspur
A busy weekend saw six of our loan players in action across the FA Cup first round and the Championship.
In the FA Cup, Josh Keeley made a big save as his Leyton Orient side prevailed on penalties against Boreham Wood, whilst George Abbott completed the full 90 minutes as Notts County progressed against Alfreton Town with a 5-1 win on Friday night.
Across the Championship, Dane Scarlett bagged his third goal in his last four games for Oxford United, Ash Phillips completed his third consecutive full game for Stoke City and Manor Solomon came off the bench as Leeds beat Plymouth
A full roundup of all the action below...
Josh Keeley & Jamie Donley
Jamie Donley and Josh Keeley helped Leyton Orient through to the second round of the FA Cup after a tense encounter with Boreham Wood at Meadow Park on Sunday.
Richie Wellens' side stormed into a two-goal lead as Sonny Perkins opened the scoring 12 minutes in before the lead was doubled four minutes after the restart thanks to Dan Agyei.
However, the National League South side rallied after Donley's 65th minute substitution with Tyrone Marsh pulling a goal back in the 69th minute before Charlie O'Connell headed his side level with just five minutes left to play.
Things got worse for Orient as Jayden Sweeney was dismissed as the game went into a period of 30 additional minutes time and the Wood had chances to win it right in the game's final stages only for with Keeley to deny O'Connell three times in the final three minutes.
During the spot-kicks, Josh saved the first one he faced, getting down low to his left to save Tom Whelan's effort, with the hosts' other two efforts missing the target, allowing his side to progress into the second round for consecutive seasons for the first time since 2014.
George Abbott
George Abbott's Notts County avoided becoming the victims of the first cup upset of the season live on TV on Friday night.
National League North side Alfreton Town were the visitors to Meadow Lane, having made it through three rounds of qualifying to get there.
George started and completed the 90 - his 10th appearance since joining the Magpies on a temporary basis - but it wasn't all plain sailing as Liam Waldock fired the visitors ahead 14 minutes in.
However, that lead lasted just two minutes as Matty Platt levelled the game before second half braces from Alassana Jatta and Jevani Brown turned the game on its head and were enough to put the game beyond doubt, earning County a second round spot for the second season in succession and setting up an away tie with Peterborough United.

Dane Scarlett
Dane Scarlett's Oxford United were edged out at the Kassam Stadium as Swansea City ran out 2-1 winners on Saturday lunchtime.
Despite the disappointment, Dane got himself on the scoresheet again, coming off the bench to complete 31 minutes and score his third goal in four league games.
That, along with his recent call up and goal involvements for England's Under-21 side, means he now has five goal contributions in five games for club and country.
The result means Des Buckingham's side are now winless in their last eight Championship games and have slipped into 19th place in the table, just two points above the bottom three.
Ashley Phillips
Ashley Phillips completed back-to-back 90s for the first time this season as Stoke City ran out 2-1 winners over Derby County at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
Tom Cannon fired the Potters ahead just nine minutes in after he was brought down by County 'keeper Jacob Zetterstrom inside the box, stepping up to convert the spot-kick for his sixth goal of the season.
A bizarre own goal then levelled the game with 20 minutes to go as miscommunication at the back saw Ben Gibson's header catch Viktor Johansson off guard and out of position, allowing the ball to trickle freely into an open net.
But Gibson made up for the earlier error, heading home at the near post from an in-swinging corner to give Narcis Pelach's side all three points and lift them to 16th in the Championship table.
Manor Solomon
Manor made it four appearances on the spin as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury, coming on a substitute in Leeds' 3-0 win over Plymouth Argyle at Elland Road on Saturday.
United have won three of their last four since Manor returned, conceding just once in that run as they sit second in the table, three points behind leaders Sunderland.
First-half strikes from Dan James, Joel Piroe and Brandon Aaronsen put Daniel Farke's side firmly in control before the interval and were ultimately enough to stretch their unbeaten run to eight games.
Manor won three free-kicks during his 24-minute cameo and takes his minute count up to 293 across six appearances so far this term.
Matthew Craig
Matthew was an unused substitute as his Barnsley side eased past Port Vale in the FA Cup, running out 3-1 winners at Vale Park thanks to goals from Marc Roberts, Davis Keillor-Dunn and Adam Phillips.
Their reward is a second round tie at home to Bristol Rovers in an all-League One affair.
Carey Bloedorn
Aveley's tough start to the campaign continued on Saturday, losing 1-0 away at relegation rivals Weymouth, with Carey Bloedorn completing the 90 between the sticks for Danny Scopes' side.
That leaves the Millers at the foot of the National League South table, seven points from safety but with a game in hand on Welling United, who are just outside the bottom four.
