Internationals | Bissouma leads Mali to Afcon

Sat 16 November 2024, 09:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Yves Bissouma provided the assist in Mali's 1-0 away win over Mozambique to book their place at the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

Captaining his nation for the fifth game in a row, it was Yves' neat first-time pass that unlocked the home side's defence to afford Kamory Doumbia the space to attack the box and fire in from 18 yards out what proved to be the decisive goal on 19 minutes.

The midfielder put in a full shift for his nation as the Eagles dug deep to preserve their one-goal lead against a Mozambique side they were level on points with heading into the Afcon qualifier, with the victory ensuring top spot in Group I and a place at the finals in Morocco.

That was Yves' 37th cap for Mali who conclude their qualifying campaign at home against Eswatini on Tuesday 19 November (4pm UK).
