Solanke: “It's almost slow motion, you know it’s going in... then the place erupts!”

We’ve all dreamt of it - that moment when you absolutely know you are about to score in front of 17,500 Spurs fans in the South Stand at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Dominic Solanke enjoyed that moment as part of his quickfire double to help us topple Aston Villa 4-1 in the Premier League on Sunday.
Played in by Dejan Kulusevski, Dom was clear in front of goal and an early decision to calmly dink over advancing Emiliano Martinez allowed the striker that moment to watch the ball sail effortlessly into the back of the empty net - although, as he told us on the Review Show, there was that moment of VAR panic...
It's almost slow motion, you know it’s going in and you have almost a second to watch it go in, and then the place erupts!
“Yes, it's a sweet feeling, especially those finishes,” reflected Dom, who pulled out his latest Anime celebration from Chainsaw Man (above). “It's almost slow motion, you know it’s going in and you have almost a second to watch it go in, and then the place erupts! So, yeah, it's great other than when they say they're drawing the lines (for a VAR offside check) straight after, and my heart’s pounding hoping I'm onside… but I was onside, so yeah, it’s great!”
That made it 2-1 on 74 minutes - five minutes later, he was there again to plant home Richarlison’s cross for 3-1, and we were in control having found ourselves 1-0 down at the break. Brennan Johnson levelled four minutes into the second half and James Maddison capped it all with a late free-kick for 4-1.
It had been a frustrating first half, so it was put to Dom if the second half performance and result was all the sweeter. “Yeah, for sure,” he said. “I think games like today show what we can do. There's been some games, like last weekend (at Palace) when we go a goal down, and we don't quite manage to turn it around, which is frustrating because we know that we can. At half-time today, we know… everyone said that we could go out there and score three, four goals - and that's what we did.”
Asked if his goals were reward for all his unselfish hard work for the team in every game, he added: “Yeah, it does. Obviously, I like to work hard for the team. We need to do whatever we can individually to help the team win. Obviously, being a striker, it’s nice to get those goals to add to the performances.”
