Bryan Gil scored his maiden goal for the Spain national team on Monday night as helped them overcome Switzerland 3-2 in the UEFA Nations League.
Called up to the squad following an injury to Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal, the winger took his opportunity in his national colours and in some style against the Swiss, ghosting through their defence before firing the ball from the left across goal and into the far corner to put his side 2-1 ahead.
On as a second-half substitute, replacing Neco Williams on the hour mark to earn his first cap for his country in over three years, the winger put his nation back in control after Joel Monteiro (63) had cancelled out Yeremy Pino's 32nd-minute opener.
Andi Zeqiri went on to level the scores once more as he converted from the penalty spot on 85 minutes but Spain were not to be denied as they earned a penalty of their own in stoppage time. Bryan Zaragoza stepped up to fire home and secure victory for his nation.
That result ensured Luis de la Fuente's side enjoyed almost total dominance in Nations League League A Group 4 as they finished on 16 points, eight ahead of second place Denmark after they won five and drew the other of their six matches.
They will now face one of Italy, Croatia or the Netherlands in March's quarter finals.
Bryan picked up his fifth international cap of his career in the game while Pedro Porro was an unused subtitute.
Radu's Romania earn victory over Cyprus
Radu Dragusin helped Romania to a 5-1 win over Cyprus on Monday night in the UEFA Nations League.
The defender, who picked up his 26th international cap, played 68 minutes in the victory as Romania made it five wins out of five in the competition so far.
They currently sit atop of League C Group 2 with 15 points from their five games, three ahead of Kosovo. However their promotion to League B is not secure with the outcome of their abandoned fixture with Kosovo still to be determined.
