Vicario listed in provisional Italy squad for Euros

Guglielmo Vicario has been named in Italy's provisional squad for Euro 2024.

Following an impressive ever-present Premier League season, Vic's sensational displays in his maiden campaign in England have earned him a place in Luciano Spalletti's initial 30-player squad.

A summer signing from Serie A side Empoli, it's been a memorable campaign for the Italian goalkeeper whose consistent performances led to Ange Postecoglou describing him as a 'great addition' to the side and his standout displays for us also earned him his long-awaited first cap in which he kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Ecuador in their last outing in March 2024.

The defending champions begin preparations for Euro 2024 with a friendly against Turkey at Bologna's Stadio Renato Dall'Ara on 4 June (kick-off 8pm UK). Spalletti is then set to name his 26-player squad list for the European Championships on 6 June before taking on Bosnia & Herzegovina in their final friendly at Vic's former side Empoli's Stadio Carlo Castellani on 9 June (7.45pm UK).

Drawn in Group B alongside Albania, Croatia and Spain, the call-up comes with less than a month to go ahead of the Azzurri's opening game with Albania at Borussia Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park on 15 June.
