The Club has been recognised for our work in partnership with New City College at Thursday night’s Women’s Football Awards.
Our Women’s Football Development Centre won in the category of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, highlighting the exceptional work done by our Education and Football Development Centres alongside the college.
New City College Group is the largest college group in East London, with campuses across Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Redbridge, Epping Forest and Havering.
The Club partnered with New City College to establish the Women’s Football Development Centre with the goal of unlocking pathways for young women through football and education.
Spurs coaches work collaboratively with teaching staff from the college to help young people to be successful in whatever path they choose. The programmes are devised to develop players as an individual and in a team environment, whilst ensuring they receive the best education possible.
Paul Griffiths, Education & Football Development Centres Manager, Tottenham Hotspur said: “We are thrilled to have won this award at such a prestigious event and in front of so many inspirational people involved in Women’s Football. The New City College Education and Tottenham Hotspur Football Development Centre has gone from strength to strength in such a short space of time, with multiple success stories along the way.”
New City College Principal, Janet Smith said: “I am delighted that our partnership has been recognised in this way. The women’s programme has enabled our talented young students to experience the highest level of coaching alongside their academic studies with us. Together we are ensuring that women from all backgrounds can access the training to achieve their potential in football.”
The Tottenham Hotspur Football Development Centre programme is available to study at New City College campuses alongside any 16-18 full-time Sport and Fitness course. The partnership gives male and female students a fantastic insight and experience in coaching and helps to further develop and support their elite sports performance.
